Useful Terminology
There are a lot of acronyms and phrases used in the world of heat pumps. Below are a few that might clear up any confusion you may have:
BUS - Boiler Upgrade Scheme. The Boiler Upgrade Scheme (BUS) is a grant of up to £7,500.00 towards the installation of an air or ground source heat pump. The Boiler Upgrade Scheme can only be offered by MCS certified installers.
BPEC - British Plumbing Employers Council. BPEC is a body that offers training, qualifications and assessments to those in the Building Services Engineering sector.
LCL - LCL Awards. LCL is a body that offers training, qualifications and assessments to those in the Building Services Engineer sector.
RQF - Regulated Qualifications Framework. RQF is an industry recognised qualification offered by LCL and BPEC that offers accreditation at Level 3 in Heat Pump Technology.
NAPIT - National Association of Professional Inspectors and Testers. NAPIT will assess your first heat pump installation. Upon passing this assessment, NAPIT will grant you the status of MCS Certified.
RECC - Renewable Energy Consumer Code. RECC is a consumer code that aims to ensure the highest standards of protection for consumers of small-scale renewables. RECC membership tells homeowners you are a trusted and reliable heat pump installer.
MCS - Microgeneration Certification Scheme. MCS is the status required to offer the £7,500.00 Boiler Upgrade Scheme grant to your customers.
