Software updates

Below are instructions on how to download and install the latest firmware for your heat pump. You’ll also find guidance on how to revert to a previous version if an issue occurs during the update process.

The most recent firmware versions are listed here. Firmware files can also be downloaded under the respective product page, within the Documents section, where you will also find demo versions and additional technical information.

How to update the heat pump's firmware

The system is equipped with a USB port located on the display unit. This port can be used to connect a USB memory stick for updating firmware, saving logged data, and managing system settings. Operating system updates should be carried out using a standard USB memory stick.

Updating the heat pump firmware - step-by-step instructions

1. Insert the USB memory stick into your computer.
2. Download the firmware file.
3. Select Save, and save the file to the USB memory stick.
   • If the download does not start automatically, right-click the link and choose Save target as.
4. Insert the USB memory stick into the heat pump.
   • When connected, a new menu (Menu 7) will appear on the display.
5. Select Start updating to begin the process.
   • You will be asked to confirm whether you want to update the firmware.
   • Choose Yes to continue or No to cancel.
   • If Yes is selected, the update will begin and progress will be shown on the display.
   • Once the update is complete, the heat pump will automatically restart.

Restoring a previous firmware version

The display unit memory always contains two firmware versions: the current version and the previously installed version. If an issue occurs during an update, you can restore the previous version by following the steps below.

1. Move the switch on the controller to Standby (centre position).
2. Press and hold the OK button on the unit while moving the controller switch to On (left position).
3. Release the OK button when the green indicator light turns on (after approximately 10 seconds).

The previous firmware version is now active.

Upgrading to a version newer than v3000

If the current firmware version in the system is older than 3000R3, you must first install UPGRADE_v3000R3.nibe before installing the new firmware file.

1. Download both firmware files and save them to your USB memory stick.
2. If the system does not automatically recognise the firmware version 3000R3 in the Update firmware menu, navigate to Choose another file, press OK, and select UPGRADE_v3000R3.nibe.
3. Select Start updating.
4. Once UPGRADE_v3000R3.nibe has been installed (the progress bar reaches 100% and the system restarts), the system will automatically begin installing the second firmware file saved on the USB stick.
